Of this Millineum... There are tow that come to mind:
Osama Bin Laden and Saddam Hussein.
Of the 20th Century, Hitler and Joseph Stalin. I would hav chosen Benito Mousellini, but Stalin was the one that corrupted Marx's vision of Utopia, and turned it into Communism. He ushered it across the world, where it is still in force today in some countries.
I think a good question for another post would be who the most destructive, detestable person in all of written history is.

Joe Stalin is hard to beat for his ruthless treatment of anyone who was in a position to be a threat, whether or not they were an actual threat, the slaughter of tens of millions (the Ukraine starvation and machine gun squads really stands out) of his own people, and his backstabbing way of sentencing his loyal friends to the gulag slave camps ... hard to top it. Hitler started WWII that killed 50 million, and attempted to wipe out an entire race of people. I still give Stalin the nod, as a big chunk of those 50 million were killed by his ruthless orders and war tactics.
Mao did pretty good over in China with his so-called cultural revolution. If you don't know the history of the monsters of the 20th century, read Paul Johnson's History of the World. I thought I knew the history but that portion of the book was more than I could take. The sheer numbers and horrid orgy of death and torture wrought by those a** holes cannot be believed. Hard to take in that this level of butchery all happened in the age of enlightenment.
Ortrhodox Chritianity and Judaism has it right - we are horrid fallen creatures who will do unspeakable tragedy if left to our own devices. But we are exalted by God and able to show love to our neighbor because of the light that God shines in this world of darkness.

I don't see how Stalin, Hitler, and Mussolini have yet to make your list. It is amazing to me that three of the most murderous, unconstieousable leaders could have been in power at the same time.
It really makes you think what could be in store for us in the future!!!
