yes you can, I've done it before. if your ipod is set to manual mode click the button on the bottom of itunes that says eject ipod. leave it plugged in and it will chage while you listen to it. you can't get up or do anything though since it's plugged into your computer, obviously. it won't work to well though, since your using the battery while charging. just listen to itunes, if its a matter of other people not want to listen to your music plug your earphones into the computer, most computers have a plug for earphones.

When you charge with the computer you can't listen to it at the same time. I've had this problem before. Just use iTunes to listen to your music.

well yes you can both ways.while you are charging you can listen to the tracks of your ipod through the computer the other way would be to eject the ipod connectivity but not to unplug it and listen through the headphones

i don't like to, nut you can. just eject it from iTunes. but it really won't charge if you're using it. enable disk use, then eject the iPod from i tunes. the menu should come up on you're iPod. but, it's so much easier to listen to music on iTunes. it's the same music.
