Many people, a majority of them being commie long-haired hippy pinko liberal fags, have posited that it is happiness that one should live for. As most military men are imperialistic, short-haired over-testiculated gun crazy closet gays, this works for us. So let's get together and shoot off each others' guns

Other people have suggested that the meaning of life is in fact 42; this is incorrect, as 42, according the American National Standards Institute, or ANSI, is "the answer to the ultimate question of Life, the Universe, and Everything" (notably, these words have a slight echo when spoken properly). However there is suspicion that there may have been an error in this calculation. Most people think that somebody really should have asked Marvin . . . or, as an alternative, Oscar Wilde

Money, while not the scientifically definitive meaning of life, is certainly the most widely accepted substitute. Money is the drive behind such wonders of human achievement as wars, religions, and pie (Apple pie has recently publicly decried any connection with money - an investigation by members of the UN is underway). Some people have speculated either that happiness and money are the same (within the limits of the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle), or that happiness and money have nothing to do with each other (being non-zero parameters of a chaotic system), and others have noted that money cannot buy happiness outright, (but rental rates start at a reasonable figure). These people are spending too much time philosomophizing, and should devote more of it to making money. It is completely acceptable to philosomophize on the meaning of pie, however.

It has been hypothesized that money is not the answer to the meaning of life but is, in fact, the root of all evil. Others have speculated that, indeed, lack of money is the root of all evil. This is merely clap-trap made up by people who don't have any. The challenge that "money kills people" is easily dismissed by the fact that "money doesn't kill people, poverty kills people."

While money, happiness, & pie have all driven people and their wallets to the point of no return, some (mainly scholars and those who didn't have the time of their life during high school) believe the meaning of life is to prepare us for another life, only this time our success will depend on what we learn, and what experiences we sacrafice for the propelling of learning. This is of course crap written by a couple of very angsty and deprived teens.

One of the few theories with scintific merit, the theory of the plastic things at the end of your shoelace, also called Lepes, are a vital part to our existance many argue

Battlestar Galactica
The recent updated version of the popular television show may in fact be the true meaning of life; everything from the tall hot blond to the crazy little asian brobot. Executive producer Ron Moore is quoted as saying, "I'm not just trying to create a show here, I am trying to create the meaning of life. We are going to have tall blond hypersexual robots that look like humans, and shorter crazy hypersexual asian robots who look like humans, there will be explosions, booze. Meaning of life."

Try and be nice to people, avoid eating fat, read a good book every now and then, get some walking in, and try and live together in peace and harmony with people of all creeds and nations and above all, avoid the salmon mousse.

Ah, the meaning of life question. Well, we can get into the circle of life, human beings are born, have babies, age, die and the next generation repeats the process. That's basic biology. But what do we do with our life to make it more meaningful? Fulfill your higher purpose (you choose what that purpose is) and serve others, lead by example, touch everyone you meet with kindness and if you think and act big enough, leave a legacy. There have been those who have achieved greatness and left a legacy in the process: Ghandi, Mother Theresa, Cesar Chavez, Martin Luther King Jr. Even those who have made billions realize that philanthropy, giving to others is fulfilling a greater calling. Take Bill Gates, who will be a full-time philanthropist by the summer of 2008 and Warren Buffet who will leave most of his billions to charity when he passes on.

So, to sum up, the meaning of life is to LIVE, to fulfill your grandest purpose of your choice and to serve others in the process.

This is where Western thinking goes wrong. We think there should be a single answer to the meaning of life. There isn't. The meaning of your life is different from everyone else's.

Perhaps you're asking a different question? First you need to figure out the correct question. Then we can go forward. Maybe you mean "Why does my life feel meaningless?"

WARNING: THE ALIENS MIGHT VISIT YOU TO ERASE YOUR MEMORY IF YOU READ THIS.

Well, you don't think the whole universe works the way Earth does, do you? No! One species, one planet! There is a planet of deer, a planet of Asians, and so on! We put them all together on Earth and the whole universe tunes in to watch the fun!

Most of the races of Earth are descended from alien races, in order to create drama from racial tension from their unnatural cohabitation of the planet.

The purpose of our lives as humans is to entertain the life forms on other planets through the reality television show that they know as EARTH.

After 100 episodes the only reason that the show was not cancelled, the planet of earth not demolished, the sun not turned off, and we are still alive is because I blackmailed the Joozians who produce the show with some dirty pictures that Kenny took of them while they were high on blach. Now, look behind you.

This was revealed to me in
South Park, 100th episode, Season 7 - Episode 4 - Cancelled.

Science tells us that changes in the human nervous system and prayer/meditation are linked in some important way, and that aspects of mind ( including prayer and meditation ) are non-local in their effects ( i.e. faster than light ).

We have also briefly discussed the findings that sick or injured people who are prayed for heal more quickly, and that seeds germinate more rapidly and are hardier when prayed for.

In his book, "The Web of Life" Fritjof Capra, physicist turned biologist, points out that we "treat the natural environment - the web of life - as if it consisted of separate parts to be exploited. We have extended this ... view to our human society, dividing it into different nations, races, religious and political groups. The belief that all these fragments - in ourselves, in our environment, and in our society - are ... separate has alienated us from nature and from our fellow human beings...."

What is needed is a paradigm shift in our way of thinking, acting and being. The facts we have discussed in this essay must be factored in to any sort of change in our existing paradigm. When we do so, these are the inescapable conclusions :

* Humanity as a whole, and each of us individually, is an inseparable part of all that lives.

* Human beings can positively influence changes in other living things through prayer and meditation, and are, so far as we know, the only living things which can do so.

* Having this ability imposes upon us responsibility toward other living things.

* Therefore one of the primary purposes of human beings, and of each human life, is to protect and nurture life in all its forms.

It may not be 42, but I do think it's 2. It's about our relationship with something, someone, outside of ourselves. Alone, in a vacuum, we can think 'right' thoughts, but that's about it. Our true measure comes when we relate to something outside of ourselves, whether that's God, or a lover, our children, or the dry cleaner. Our relationships with others, the promises we choose to make, define us.

Try 47. It's the favorite number of Star Trek.

Personally, I think the meaning of life is to prove (or disprove) your worth in heaven.

Everyone has their own meaning of life. Your life only has meaning after you die. Its meaning is all of the things you have done all put together.
