It's really tricky to sell photographs. You need to consider you market and where you are able to sell photos. Just trying to get your work "out there" and create a buzz will generate some sales. Galleries often have juried shows that are open to the public, work may or may not get in. But it's worth a try. artsdeadlineslist.com is a great site to check out for Juried shows.
Is there a coffee shop, library, small bakery or something like that nearby? Coffee shops are usually open to the idea of having art work up.
Craft fairs are always good to. But consider who you are selling to. Have some framed, some just matted, and some loosed prints and price accordingly. But they usually don't bring in much money.
-another option- There is also stock photography, or submiting photos to various companies for use - like calenders and cards.
There are books available on how to sell photographs, some are available at Barnes and Noble for pretty cheap. these will give you even more options, and shop you exactly how to do it!

I'm an artist and I've lived in a small town, Chico, California for 4 years before, I know some possibilities that you can try!
• Local Farmer's Market (I always see photos, paintings and hand-made arts&crafts selling there...because the crowd is unbelievable!!)
• Local Cafe Shops and Restaurants (tons of artists or students sell their arts thru those cafe shops or restaurants in small town where most people visit and hang out...)
• Any Local Festival (usually local residents or residents from small towns around yours will come for the famous festival, and this is a good way to sell your arts!)
• College or University in your town (usually school has the Performing Arts gallery welcoming local artists to display their arts with no fee required!!! But you have to negociate the schedule with school.)
• Local Frame shop (I've seen artists sell their arts in the frame shop with the frames chose and made by the frame shop to promote both the art and frame!)
or....you can have an....
•Open Studio (you can clean up an appropriate space in your garage and make it your art gallery and connect some spot lights focusing on your photos, and arrange the space to go with your digital photo theme....and then post an Event Announcement on your local newspaper!)
or...you can try the following...
•www.craigslist.com (I sold my paintings and a lot of other stuff thru craigslist, I was amazed how fast I sold my painting there! Post your ads with your photo images under "for sale" column.)
or...you might want this in the long run...
•Create Your Own Website or Blog (now it's getting so much easier and cheaper to have your own website or your personal blog, and you can simply send your website or blog link to friends, and more and more people will see your arts!)

Most of the Coffee Shops around here hang our local artists paintings, photo's etc on their walls on consignment. In fact the only place that don't do it here is Starbucks. You might also see if the odd real estate company could use them for home staging. In that case it might not be a sale for you but it certainly could be a rental situation. Also try Home Decorating and design studio's

Check with your local community college, they have digital photography classes and they can help you find jobs on the side and might be able to tell you where to display your photos.... Good Luck....

I have done this one. I used to sell my paintings in a beauty salon. I asked the owner if she would like to look at my portfolio and she loved it. I then asked if i could hang and sell my art in her store. She would get 20% of the profit. It worked great.

Ebay is the least expensive way to advertise while being able to get your works out to a world wide audience. No brainer.
