This is called the System Tray, and you can do a couple of things:
1. right-click on the task bar (to the left of the system tray) and click Properties. Then check the box next to "hide inactive icons." This will hide some of them.
2. right-click on each item in the System Tray; some will offer you options or properties where you can turn the system tray icon off.
3. open the corresponding programs and open the Options; some will offer to turn the system tray icons off.
4. click Start, Run, and type 'msconfig'. This will allow you to customize the programs that automatically start with Windows. This is a very advanced feature, so be careful what you disable - in fact, you probably shouldn't mess with it at all, since you could disable your virus protection and other key programs.

Good luck!

Right-click on an empty space on your start bar, and go to Properties. Check the box "hide inactive icons." That should fix it, unless you are actually using all those programs at once.

BTW, the space on the start bar that has the time and those icons is called the system tray.

you can just right click on them and delete them it will not remove the program just the link in your startup bar. You can do that with adobe winzip and so on. If you want the program removed go to add remove programs in the control pannel

Just right cllick, then left click "remove from this list" and it's gone. You will still be able to access it elsewhere though. You'll be fine. Don't worry.
