To me, love, hunger, anger, lust, fear and sadness are so common. Of course you can add more common emotions on the list but I would like to know the rarest emotion we humans feel. At first, my answer is 'superiority' but I always feel superior when I list my dreams. Think deeply. I absolutely do not know the answer.

Most of us would say,"complete 'WHATEVER EMOTION'", but this can only be achieved by maintaining the feeling you already have. Altruism and selflessness are almost identical.

Selflessness. To be aware you are selfless would defeat the emotion all together.

functionalan... is probably right, Altruism.
But, I think it is Happiness or Joy, because we can never get enough of it. The question depends on your point of view what is experienced the least or what we feel is experienced the least.
Of course many people on Yahoo Answers are experiencing altruism, after all our only material reward is 2 or (if you are lucky) 12 points. A lot of us are more interested in helping others with no real desire for a reward, so that means altruism is more common than you would think.
So your question also depends on the level of the experience. How many times have you been almost scared to death--that's pretty rare, isn’t it? If you go into a possible death dealing experience you are either trying to get out of it and don't have time to experience a lot of fear, or it comes too fast for you to feel scared. The death dealing experiences that give you time to dread it’s coming are rare, because few people really get into a death dealing experience.

that is a very good question. Actually many people feel that they are superior than others so I really dont consider superiority the rarest emotion. It is hard to say which one it is, I would say that it would have to depend on the individual and their emotions and the one that they hardly ever feel.

Hmm, that's a tough one... could it be satisfaction? I mean the 'real' satisfaction, not an "I tied a perfect bow" satisfaction. Maybe the kind you feel when you have lived a fulfilled life and you feel that you are satisfied with your achievements, and you are ready to die. Just a thought. Many people never get there.

Love. I mean real, genuine love. Not the chemical reaction, romantic, affection variety.
