It makes it easier to get in and out of bed. By the way, other primates also sleep in elevated beds. Several of the apes who spend most of their days on the ground, return to nests in the trees at night. So, maybe it is cultural and maybe it is genetic.

It's easier to get on and off elevated beds, especially as you get older and the knees start to go. However, those beds that you have to climb a ladder to get into defeat the purpose.

This can be related to the olden days when early man built his bed on trees for safety from ground predators and pests.

It is no surprise that this practice is being done to this day. You do not want to find creatures crawling all over you by sleeping on ground level.

Originally,people believed sleeping on the ground would leave you open to influences coming from the ground,such as magnetism,negative energy,etc. ,so they elevated their beds
