*I* would call it addictive, but some of the psychological and medical community would say that addiction is limited to only drugs and alcohol. On the other hand, their decision to call it "compulsive" instead doesn't change the pattern of behavior nor make it any less problematic. That's where I think the rest of us draw our own linguistic line: what most people call addiction is a problematic compulsive behavior.
It's cool that a lot of people are asking and giving answers, BUT it's also NOT cool that many people are doing this at the cost of doing their work or paying attention to their families. For example, check out this question:

Maybe the guy asking is not serious, yet I feel like this could be a completely real situation!
The important thing is to do this in moderation and remember that your answers and questions start sounding stupid way past your bedtime.

It was in the beginning but now that I have been here 3 months, I find that I can actually be online without coming in to answer questions. Now also, I answer what I have time for and don't feel like I have to reach a certain number of answers, votes or rates per day.

yes it is when im not on it i want to be and when i am i dont want to stop. i find it really entertaining, answering various questions then asking things. and trying to get points to get to the next level is fun too. i think whoever invented it deserves a prize. :)
