what if the bank is closed, is there a way to do it online?

I used to work at several bank in the customer service. You simply call up and ask if your particular check will clear. They will not give you the balance but can give a "yes" or "no" concerning funds.

You can call the bank & give them the account # & the amount of the check & they can tell you if that amount is available for w/d.

yes...take it to the bank it is drawn off of. If they cash it, it has funds available!
