The black ink works fine but the colors aren't working. I did all the re-alignment fixes available, and even changed out the inks to fresh ones. It won't print colors. I've only had it for a year. Can I fix it, or should I take it to a shop, or just can it?

You've probably already checked to make sure that when you send a print job it is setup to print in color and not just black and white. Try to clean 4 or 5 times - both directly from the printer and from the computer. If you do a test print (I think you hold down the first two buttons on the front when starting up, but it's been a long time since I worked with one) and it doesn't print color you may be SOL. I was told by the tech at my school that it was not cost effective to have them fixed. You may need to get another. Best of luck.

I had the same problems with my Epsons all the time. Clean the print heads about 6 times and then run an alignment pattern. Repeat until the alignment pattern is whole.

Once you get it going again, run a clean/align cycle once a week to keep the print heads clear.

Good luck!

You better take it to Epson printer service agent for a cleaning of the ink head. It may clogged after not running for long time. In China, this may cost about RMB100.
