Journaling may help.

Taking them to court may help. Look at them objectively. This works well for worry, anxiety and fear. How realistic is the thought? Is it true? If someone else said it of themselves, would you accept it?

Toss any idea that doesn't bear up under scrutiny.

Set a timer when you do this. Allow yourself 10-15 minutes tops to work it out. Commit to doing something else after you've given it due consideration.

If you have persistent unwanted thoughts that are keeping you from living a productive life, seek counseling. A good therapist can help you redirect your thoughts to productive things.

If it keeps popping up in different forms (some would say coincidence which is something I don't believe in) I would say confront it. Ask yourself, WHY am I thinking this. Sit down and write yourself a letter. Maybe it's something you wish you could control but can't. Maybe it's how someone treated you that you can't let it go. I tell you this, life's too short to dwell on what others did wrong to you. If you find your thoughts violent as well as obsessive, seek professional help, nothing wrong with that as you are looking out for yourself so you don't hurt others. Move on.

I think things over, and then it goes away. I think it's better to confront your thoughts. After a while, you might be able to reach a conclusion that you like. So you won't be upset by it anymore. It's cathartic.

PS: they often come back, though, because you tend to ask yourself other questions. But that's why we have a brain, isn't it? To think!

talk to someone, or pray, just do things to get ur mind off of the thoughts. like a hobby or something, watch tv, go skateboarding, or just hang out with friends, be around alot of ppl, ppl keep you from thinking about things, trust me, lol or at least make you think about different things than those u are worried about, later :)

I know this sounds lame, but shedding a few tears help to put things in perspective.
Listening to calming music soothes & calms the nerves.
Drinking tea, taking long deep breaths or going for a walk help to get you through it.

You need to act on those thoughts - i.e. they describe typically an unresolved situation. Act in a reasonable way to resolve them.

Command them to stop immediately! You're in charge over your body whether you know it or not.
