Less than Zero with Morton Downey Jr.... Andrew McCarthy and Jamie Gertz who has never been better. I got the impression I was not watching a movie but was spying on a group of rich kids and the empty lives they lead... through the lense of a camera....struck a chord with me...deeply.
Awesome soundtrack....especially Bangles opening song...slice right out of time.

But there are three others...

Come Back, Little Sheba (1952)
A movie version of the play by William Inge, COME BACK, LITTLE SHEBA is the story of "Doc" and "Lola" Delaney -- a sadly aging couple whose attention seems drawn undistractably to lost dreams and failed ambitions. A grim and cold recovering alcoholic, Doc seems only able to numb the pain of his black-and-white existence with drink. Lola, on the other hand, desperate for warmth and affection, still longs for the little lost dog named "Sheba" missing for nearly a year which had provided her so much companionship and joy. Into this mix comes Marie, a carefree young co-ed happily dabbling at love and romance. When she rents a room from the Delaneys, their home is suddenly inhabited with the ghosts of their own failings -- Doc's professional failings, Lola's failings as a wife and mother, and the shared failings of their marriage.

The Morning After (1974) (TV)
Richard Matheson's masterful screenplay is a genuine classic as well as Dick Van Dyke in the performance of a lifetime...for his mindblowing portrayal of an alcoholic. devastating ending...

Deadly Care (1987) (TV)
True story about a nurse's descent into the nightmarish world of substance abuse which endangers her life and the lives of her patients.
Cheryl Ladd puts in a command performance as a woman bitten by the disease of addiction...after a few minutes I forgot I was wtaching a Charlie's Angel. Ladd nails it ...good stuff.

Oh yes...almost forgot...

Go Ask Alice (1973) (TV)
A high school girl gets heavily involved in drugs, finally realizes she needs help.

I liked Blow and Lord of War! I don't know if Lord of war would qualify for a drug movie though because it was mostly about gun runners. The little brother picks up the drug habbit and goes to rehab and yuri uses some in africa but thats about it.

oh darn.. don't remember the name but its a Charlie Sheen movie (from maybe 15 years ago). He plays a cop that infiltrated a biker drug ring and helped take it down. It was based on a true story. Great movie.

After that, I'd say Rush.
