I have a cherry tree that is loaded with cherries but the cherries won't ripen. I am finding as much hard unripened fruit on the ground as in the tree and the birds won't even clean them up. I have been watering the tree every day because it is in sandy soil that gets very dry quickly in the sun. I have also removed all the grass and weeds away from the tree to help it grow better. What can I do to help the fruit to become ripe?

Put mulch around the tree. Sand gets dry fast and these cherries are probably falling because they are drying up.

Talk to your local horticulture dept. at a University or community college. It's a wonderful free source of info.

You need to do a soil test. Check with your extention office.
