The Fastest production car- I take it thats what you mean, is the 2005 Bugatti Veyron. The 0-62mph/100kmh time is 2.5 seconds, and it tops out, in production trim, at 253mph/408 kmh. This claim was verified by an independent journalist, so it stands, but not the official record books (which still say Mclaren F1, 3.2 secs and 241mph=385kmh).

PS: The Thrust SSC, which goes at Mach 1+, cannot be officially classified as a car, it's a land-speed record vehicle with two GE J79 Jet engines.

ok, it's McLaren Dwayne and its the McLaren F1 not just the McLaren and its not the fastest car, it was at one time until the Koenigsegg CC8s came out,and then the Bugatti Veyron came out, its got the fastest top speed at 258mph,and almost the fastest acceleration of any production car. And meemee, the koenigsegg CCX if faster than the CCR and the saleen S7 twin turbo smokes it in acceleration(2.5 0-60) and that's with little traction. I have a comparison if you guys would like to look at it just so you know whats going on.

Production - Bugatti Veyron.
Speed - 404 kph

Otherwise - Thrust SSC. But you can hardly call it a car. It has a jet engine. Speed - Around Mach 1

If you are talking about cars for land speed records, then definitely Thrust SSC (first supersonic car).
If you are talking about production cars...
too many cars go now over 320kph (200mph).
