There is a very simple answer to your question. Computer CP Units are the most popular nesting sight for the worlds smallest humming bird. The adults only reach about 1.1 inches in length. They enter the home through a cracked door. They are nocturnal and feed off the dust particals in the atmosphere. They fly very fast and can seldom be seen with the naked eye. They build their nests in your computer tower in the middle of the night while you are fast asleep. They are very noisy birds, especially when the computer is running. Please do not silence these wonderful creatures. They are very clean and friendly annimals and make wonderful pets. ENJOY!

Normally these kind of sounds are coming from a cooling fan that has bearings that are on their last legs. Remove a side cover from the tower case,Usually a couple of screws, and watch the CPU and case fans for speed irregularities. The direction of the sound may help you locate the problem fan. These things are cheap! :-)=

Best guess would be your fan, try cleaning it out, it could also be broken and not rotating, so it's best to look at it and see if you need to get a new one.
