I am not Mexican, but my husband is and we have a house there too, I cant think of a way to be sure that he fulfills his promises, if you ask anyone in my husbands town in Tlaxcala, they will tell you that all politians lie. They have lost all hope for their government. I would suggest that people NOT let the government go back to PRI, what did they do for the people all those years that they were in office? It will take any person more than one term to fix the problems! I just worry that all this fence building is only going to seperate Mexico and America more, the tension was always there, but it is getting ridiculous!

You can't make any official keep their promise. The best thing to do is organize, keep continous pressure on them, everybody has a breaking point. Mexico is another story though, corruption and drug trafficking have a stranglehold on the country and the government and it is going to take more than a new president to change that.

First, are you mexican?? 'Cause let me tell you is not easy!! If you think you had enough is not even half!! We will never be sure that they´ll do what they say, and on top of it, even if the purposes are right, the rest of the Congress will never allow him to proceed. That´s how it is. Is not about helping the people, but to not let the party win or look ok to the people. Elections are coming next Sunday although I´m not even sure who to vote for, I just hope Lopez Obrador does not win, I´m sure it will be something similar to Chavez in Venezuela or Castro in Cuba...

I'm not mexican but I will give a answer to your question, you would hope that when a person is elected they are thinking about the peoples that elect them, but guess again you never know for sure whether they will keep their promise until they actually start screwing up and things start falling apart! look at the person pretending to be president of the U.S.?

Please take into mind that people say whatever they think will get them elected and then proceed to do what ever they can. And if you are worried about corruption in Mexico, how much corruption is there in Washington DC? Mr. Vice President, how did your company get so many fat contracts from Iraq and helping hurricane victims from Florida to Texas?

IM MEXICAN - BUT LIVE IN THE US. IM ADOPTED AND LEGAL AND ALL I CAN SAY IS THAT THE NEW PRESIDENT HAS SOME SORT OF LEFTIST GROUP IDEAS LIKE SUPPORTING CUBA AND SUPPORTING CHILEAN GOV, {WELL THAT MAY BE FINE SINCE SISTER LIVES THERE BUT HE HAS NO PLAN TO WORK WITH THE USA AND JUST HELPING HIS OWN COUNTRY--BUT EVEN SO, ITS NOT GONNA WEED OUT THE POLICE CURRUPTION AND THE FEMICIDE IN JUAREZ AND THE DRUG AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING. I WAS WAITING FOR AN IDEA FROM THE CANIDATES ON WHET THEIR PLAN WAS TO HELP WITH THAT BUT SINCE WOMEN ARE UNIMPORTANT IN MEXICO I DON'T THINK ANYTHING WILL CHANGE ANYTIME SOON, EVEN IF VINCENT FOX IS OUT.

haha, we cant. we dont live in Mexico and even if we did, corruption transcends on so many levels. It would be great if the elect president would really want to change the country, but that is something we dont know. Nice try though...

You can't even make your own president fulfill his promises, what makes you thing that you can make another countries president fulfill their promises. Topical American arrogance.
