considering all the rich material he had to work with...George Lucas.
There is no excuse for the last three star wars flicks...no reason at all.

First of all, I have to say to everyone else that Michael Moore and Ron Howard are amazing filmmakers. Conservatives just can't stand Moore because he tells the truth and they can't handle the fact that things are wrong and people are different.
Anyway, by far, the absolute worst director ever to disgrace the screen makes Ed Wood look like Steven Speilberg. He is Uwe Boll. He changes so many things in his video-game "adaptions" that the only thing that is the same is the title. He made a game about a detective trapped in a haunted house during the 1800's into a movie about a guy with a girl who never wears a shirt in modern times. They have AK-47 rifles and the girl sleeps with everybody.
Really, he is absolutely terrible. And German. Ewwww, German! Just kidding about the German thing. That's my opinion.

When a director makes a film and at the end they find that they hate it, or it didn't live up to their vision, or it just plain sucked out loud, they can apply to the Motion Picture Academy for what's called an 'Alan Smithee'. It was a fictional name developed back in the 1940s which directors could substitute in place of their own name, so that they didn't have to sully their goods names with bad pictures. However, the Academy has to grant the director permission to use it.
So you could say that Alan Smithee is the worst movie director of all time!!

Uwe Boll is supposed to be pretty terrible although I haven't seen any of his movies. Roger Corman has made some real stinkers too...

uwe boll...he did bloodrayne, alone in the dark, and house of the dead....not to mention the adaptation of the videogame, postal, is coming out soon....any director who specializes in making video game films exclusively, is very bad....
