We are nature's attempt at an intelligent species. We don't have claws or sharp fangs; no wings, no thick hides. Nature has tried all of those combinations already and they were not as successful as intelligence. So if we don't make it, it means intelligence didn't work either. If there is a next species to dominate the earth, it will have to be something new. Nature doesn't repeat it's mistakes. So my answer to your question is, there will not be another intelligent species. We're it. Us and our descendants. That's how nature works.

The next dominant species to rule the earth will not necessarily be intelligent. All they need to be is tolerant of the conditions we humans leave behind for them.
A good arguement can be made for the cockroach. They're very durable, have survived millions of years already, and thrive in many environmental settings.

Good Question !
We humans have a very poor record of being in tune with our planet earth.
We seem to be so bent on destroying our beautiful World. So, one day all humans will cease to exist if they continue this path of destruction.
The next species would most probably have to think of their world in a different way, and modify their behavious in many ways, that includes considering their environment, their social position and sustainability.
It is important to have one universal language, written and spoken, and no class distinction, all beings being equal and love being the most important quality. Why don't humans embrace such philosophy now instead of letting themselves be destroyed by their ignorance?

What makes you think that humans rule the earth? There are more bacteria in a large puddle than all the humans that have ever walked the earth combined. I suspect that they will still be there long after we are gone.

it is purely no longer clever to talk approximately aliens at the same time as denying or ignoring God. it particularly is glaringly absurd. on account that your premise lacks intelligence you basically make a fool of your self. you utilize the notice faith in an particularly ignorant and bigoted way. it would desire to be whilst in comparison with calling all Austrians depraved because of the fact Hitler became an Austrian. That, regrettably, is your point.

It will probably be an alien race that comes to this planet after humans have messed it up so much that life as we know it cannot exist.

For sure a species of insect...maybe roaches? they aren't all that intelligent yet - but give them time...look how long it took us (and I've met quite a few humans who's intelligence is debatable!) :)
