There is a really good book, but I don't remember the name of it. It is something about potty-training in 24 hours. The basic idea is, you pick the day you are going to do it, give them all the juice and liquids they want (to make them pee), and lots of salty foods (makes them poo). Then you put them on the toilet like every 15 minutes. Also, you let them run around naked all day. It helps them learn cause and effect. Anyway, when they pee or poo on the pot, you make the biggest deal in the world out of it. You cheer, you dance, and you give them a treat. I used M&M's. I used this method to potty train my triplets. They were potty trained by the end of the day. They still needed pull-ups at night. But they figured that out pretty fast. I saw this book on Dr. Phil a long time ago. Sorry I can't remember the name.

I know a lot of "experts" disagree, saying the children can and should be potty trained before they are 2 or 2 1/2 but I think it is best to let the child decide when they are ready. My son was over three and the daycare was going crazy because I wouldn't push my son to train. However, I did give him the opportunity at home, I just didn't push it. When he finally trained, he just did it and never wet his bed at night and never had an accident in his pants. I wasn't stressing out and neither was my son.

This is going to sound difficult...but believe me it works! I did it with my girl and now I'm doing it with my boy. Take her to the potty first thing in the morning then every hour or every couple of hours and then right before she goes to bed...build it into your routine. Tell her you're taking her to the potty and that she needs to pee and poo in the potty. You may want to give her a reward system, give her a star sticker every time she uses it and then when she builds ten stickers give her a nicer sticker like a Tinkerbell one.

Anyway, take off the pamper! It's an important step, if she's using the pamper she won't have the need to announce that she needs to go potty. Ask her, need to go potty? But take her every couple of hours anyway. When she wets herself (it will happen) take her potty anyway and tell her that's where she's supposed to go pee.

It takes a while (months, maybe a year,) it's taken about a year with my son. But, be patient, be consistent. Consistency is what'll get you though. And, the thought that girls are easier to train than boys!!

I purchased a video with my son that made it sound kind of like a game. I'm sure its not hard to find but it had other children on it, and animated children too. Babies like watching other children and they will mimic them easier than they will understand what you are talking about. I set his potty chair in front of the TV and put in the video a couple of times a day and he got it down. But if you push she will go backwards and it will take longer to potty train her. I also had a basket of little toys next to the toilet and whenever he would even attempt to go he would get to pick out something from the basket of toys. Try those things and if you e-mail me I will look in storage to see if I still have that video and give you the title to it. but it was specifically for children and set up like a cartoon.

Don't go straight to the big toilet - it never works. Buy a small potty. You have to be consistant. Everytime she says she has to go, run! Even if you think it's false alarm. It gets tiring, but it's really important that you are consistant.

Other than taking her before bedtime and when she gets up, watch her expressions for signs of the need to go: example: holding her bottom, squirming, grunting, etc, and place her on the potty. be sure to reward her for each time she goes.. have lots of patience:-)
