I know who the president is, and that's about it. I could care less about the other stuff. Don't get me wrong, I really apreciate what the soldiers are doing for us in Iraq, I just don't understand it all.

How old are you??? You should start caring .....because it is going to affect you whether you recognize it or not. Due to our reckless president and Government you, yourself have a hefty $150,000 + debt because of our governments irresponsible spending. That goes for every individual, and for familys it's more!! You may not see the affects right now, but give it 2 or 3 years....and you will!!! Everything being done now, affects the future!!! That's how we work the system.
for eample, how can congress decide and appropriate funds, and spending for programs or cutting of funds for the year 2007 if it's not 2007???? Get it??

Iraq....we invaded Iraq, which is a Country w/ a leader who had absolutey nothing to do with Al-Quadea or Bin Laden, and they also lied for the reason we went there which was the reason that Saddam had " WMD's " ( Weapons of Mass Destruction ) ....which we found out he DID NOT have!!!! Also the Iraq War is costing 10 billion dollars a month......and were 8 trillion in debt!!!

Start Paying attention!!!

If you are interested in Politics and knowing something about the world in which you live, then you need to educate yourself.
Do your own research. When you read something, do not assume it is the truth. Research your research, look at everything from more than one point of view.
When you read a post like the one from Blondie, don't believe that what she says is true. Liberals will always tell you something and try to convince you that it is the truth, like global warming. I have researched it, listened to both sides and came to my own conclusion and opinion. But you have to decide for yourself. Is it true? Are they lying to me? When you research Iraq and the reason why we are there, you can't just assume that it is oil, or that they had WMD, you have to research the history of the middle east, the spreading of Islamic Militantism, and where the extremism originated at, and with whom. When you figure out that kind of stuff, then you will be on your way to understanding why we are over there. Iraq is not something that came about overnite, and it won't go away when leave either. We can only hope that we leave those people with a fighting chance to gain the freedom that they want. Do the research, real research, not just news accounts. Look at everything, but always be aware of anyone or anything that slants toward a conservative or liberal view exclusively. good Luck

Maybe you are more interested in politics than you realize.

Are you worried about global warming? Have you seen reports about the glaciers melting and weather gone wild?

Does world peace count among things you value? Right now there are two approaches to the problem. The Republicans favor taking the fight to the enemy before he can attack here. The Democrats favor just withdrawing our troops everywhere and hoping the terrorists learn to love us. Which approach do you subscribe to? The decision is vital.

The state of public education in this country is abysmal. I have friends from small, poorer countries like Slovakia, and let me tell you, if they were put on a stage to compete next to the typical American student, they would wipe the floor with the American. Public education is a dismal failure. Are you willing to let the U.S. slide into mediocrity?

Are you for or against abortion? That is a perennial political issue?

Muslim countries deny most rights to women. They can't vote, or hold most jobs. They often cannot leave the house unless escorted by a male relative, not even to get groceries. The Taliban had enslaved women almost completely. They were practically entombed in stifling burkas, and beaten for inadvertently showing a lock of hair. Do you support women's rights?

So, are you still so sure you're not interested in politics?

It's not that you're generation is so much more into politics than you. It's just that they're so much more into responsibilty and maturity and reality than you. I'm not sure what your age is, and maybe that's a factor in your question and further comment, but I can STRONGLY SUGGEST that, as you grow older, you also grow in your education and sense of responsibility. When you do, you'll find yourself more interested in politics, and just being knowledgeable is a far cry better than not understanding, or seemingly giving a hoot, about why young men like my son are over in Iraq keeping you free to keep on being who you are. He can tell you, and it ain't about oil as some people suppose. It's about freedom, and he's risking his life as we speak, in his second tour of duty in Iraq, so you can be free, and hopefully become educated and mature. I must be too "close to the action" to respond to your question in an unemotional way, and maybe that's good. I speak clearer that way. I hope you can appreciate my point of view. God Bless you.

As a vet from Desert Storm I need to answer. I
don't believe your question is ignorant, you were never presented with the opportunity to lose your freedom. Ask a Russian or someone from Taiwan or A chezk what all the fighting is about. Hell, we could still have a king without " all this fighting". I love this country enough to fight for it and would do it again if not for age restrictions.

Maybe because people who dont take an interest in these matters wake up to a dictatorship one day and wonder why. And if you are talking about my generation, like born in the 80s, I would totally disagree that the generation takes a real interest.

we have finally woken up to the fact that the left wing agenda has nearly destroyed our country, and that for the past 40 years Democrats have created a permanent subservient minority that will vote for them regardless of the vailed racism.
