I don't have Photoshop anymore, so I need to use the regular paint on windows, but I'm not sure how to make it black and white, so could somebody please tell me?

On the menu bar, click "Image" than "Attributes.." Then under Colors, click the radio button "Black and White."

This allows you to paint in black and white, however, you cannot convert a current file into black and white.

Open Paint and go to Image --> Attributes and there is a Black and White option in that menu.

It doesn't appear to work very well, so be careful. Make a copy of your picture first because conversion to Black and White can't be undone in Paint.

If you want a better image editing program, try IrfanView. It's not spectacular as anything other than an image viewer, but it's a lot better than Paint for editing/cropping photos.

To use black and white instead of color
On the Image menu, click Attributes.
Under Colors, click Black and white.
Note

If you change back to color, only new work will be in color.

Yes. Load your picture (it might have to be in .bmp format), do command Image > Attributes > Black and white.
The result might not look the way you expect it to because Paint doesn't grayscale very well.
