Does any 1 have Rhodesian Ridgeback? What's nature of dogs and does the ridge look awkward on dogs? Smart dog?

Also known as the Lion Dog, African Hound the RR is a large beautiful, muscular dog. Ridgeback comes from it's unique clearly defined symmetrical ridge running the length of it's back formed by the hair that grows in the opposite direction of the rest of the coat. head is long, skull-flat and broad. Extremely powerful jaws and can stop at a dime.Front legs should be very straight& strong. Fairly long tapered strong tail curves slightly at the end. Fine hunters, ferocious in hunt. At home calm gentle obidient dogs. Considerable stamina, great running partners!
Very Important: do not overfeed. This breed needs consistant obiedience training, socialization w/ other dogs and a firm loving active owner. Best to start gentle training when young and move up. They are very intelligent learn quickly but can be stubborn. They are very protective of owners, cauctious of strangers and not all are reccommend for children because they do not take well to rough play and pestering without reacting.Their learyness of specific people might alert you to something you were unaware of, they can be aggressive but overall once they are familliar and trust them w/ you all is good. Continued dislike may be a sign, don't be so quick to take the persons side, these dogs have there reasons alot of times it's for your benefit! it is a great dog and companion but please understand this breed requires a great deal of attention and training and most of all love. Be ready to take on a great responsibility, but well worth it. Good Luck and always check out adoption options first , many wonderful dogs in these facilities just in need of a loving parent.

They are good hunters, They don't do well with kids...they are very smart and very loyal to their owners...they can be a little overprotective and aggressive towards strangers...need lots of exercise...They were Lion hunting dogs so you know they are brave. Very intelligent, really a mans dog. I had to give mine up when he got too aggresive towards some of my friends...with some of my friends he was great and loving...but alas he would be really aggresive toward one or two others...when it really comes down to it he was a great judge of character since I later found out the 2 guys he didn't like stole things from me...The ridge doesn't look awkward at all...it's kinda cool...just the way the hair grow on the back.

My friend has one. They are awesome dogs! Very smart and not ackward at all.
