There appear to be about a billion people asking questions, constantly. So for a split second, your question appears at the top of the list, a bunch of people answer it, and then a split second later, a billion questions have been asked, and your question is suddenly listed billionth, where no one will ever see it again.

Due to the sheer number of questions that are constantly being asked the one that you ask is quickly pushed to the back of the list. I think most people just focus on the current ones that pop up on the first page and don't go further than that.
The most answers that I've gotten for a question was 36.

It has been my experience that people answer the recent questions first. However, their knowledge on the subject of the question is limited. They just want to be the first to answer. I've also noticed that questions that are easily wikipedia'd are answered quickly.
People that browse the categories are seeking questions within their area of expertise. They just may take longer to find it. So, when choosing the best answer, sometimes its best to read from the bottom up.
Usually, the more provocative the question, the more answers it receives. Any question about child porn, sex, or racism is guaranteed a lot of answers. Any question that involves a lot of research or thought..... sits in limbo

Because the new answers are posted first, and people tend to respond to the new questions nobody has responded to yet, because they do not want to repeat themselves if someone else has the same answer. They want to look like the first ones, and the smart ones ;)
2. I think that is depends on how the question is asked, and if people know enough about it. It seems like the sillier the questions, the more responses, or questions about relationships because everyone is able to relate to it , and has experienced it one way or another.

When people go to the Answers home page, if you're on that first page or at the top, everyone clicks on it and answers. If you get buried, then no one takes the time to find your question, unless it is compelling.
Haven't asked a question yet. I don't want a lot of answers because I don't want to have to read them all.

People lie in wait for a new question, and then POUNCE! If they see it's old, or it has a lot of answers, they tend to answer a lot less--makes sense when you think about it! I honestly don't know how many answers I've gotten to one particular question, but I think it's only in the low forties, perhaps.

We did a graduate psych type based on the denial of actuality and used most of the conspiracy theorists wacky suggestions, at the same time with that the U. S. did 9/11. Why could somebody decide to have faith some thing that some distance from actuality? Its a mix of issues. each and every person probable has somebody of their family contributors or circle of acquaintances who constantly has a "extra clever" theory, or that may not be able to fail horse wager, or invention and yet they are under no circumstances effective yet they proceed with the aid of life that way. evaluate what it takes to have faith that the U. S. did 9/11. a clean President left with the comparable bureaucrats from the Clinton administration, replace into waiting to cajole hundreds of persons interior the militia and civilian government to flow alongside with a plan to kill 3,000 electorate after in user-friendly terms 8 months in place of work. Now, Clinton ought to no longer get head under a table with out it turning out to be a public difficulty, yet Bush (who we are additionally constantly informed is stupid) replace into waiting to tug this off and flow away no evidence and get an prolonged set up terrorist chief to take credit for the act. think of having to settle for all of those factors with the intention to have your guy or woman actuality. We did interview after interview of persons who believed that the government replace into concealing UFOs, that NASA under no circumstances went to the Moon, that there is no Russian area station, that JFK replace into kidnapped by making use of the CIA, 9/11 etc etc. the only uncomplicated element our type got here upon replace into that the conspiracy persons are debiltated to a factor that they could not often function in each and every day life, if employable ought to have jobs that haven't any responsiblity and extremely, very often they stay at domicile as adults and prefer that long shot on the song save hoping that they are going to hit the jackpot and be the only individual in united states of america who knew some thing.. and for this reason the include unusual perspectives, they are hoping that one would be actual and that's the main to being considered as no longer loopy. loopy begets loopy on precise of loopy. And so there it truly is Psych 407, a variety undertaking.
