I have been using Mac for more than 12 years now. For the last 3 years I've also been using a PC (w/ windows OS) only because of some softwares I like that aren't available for Mac OS. But I would always prefer using a Mac anytime anywhere. One more thing besides the fabulous Mac OS, Mac hardwares are very reliable and durable.

Buy the mac. You then have a choice. You can run Windows or Mac.

If you use bootcamp, you now have virtually 2 computers, if your windows session get a virus, it will not affect your Mac session. And if your Mac session gets a virus (opps, that hasn't happened yet to my knowledge).

You can run your Mac session, you run it securely. You can then use your windows session to run programs that are not Mac compatabile.

Now another thing, Vista is supposed to be a lot like the current Tiger, and months before the next release of Windows comes out, Tiger will be replaced by Leopard. So Windows, once again is bringing up the rear.

Get the Mac. It comes with Word processors and Sherlock and dashboard are awesome.

The only reason not to buy a Mac is if you are into hardcore network gaming. If you are doing anything else, buy a Mac. The hardware and especially the operating system is so far superior to anything you can get with a PC/Windows that it is truly unbelievable. Buy a Mac, and you will love doing things on your computer, intead of dreading and hating it. You will think "yes, this is what a computer should do." Go to an Apple store and check them out. You won't be sorry.

With Apple's release of macs powered by Intel chips they are capable of running the new version of windows vista, that is correct. Apple's OS 10 is the most stable OS out there on the mass market that you can find a wide variety of apps for. Plus no one reportedly has been able to hack the OS completely. So it is secure, not to mention only 1% of computer viruses out there, if even that high, are targeted for the mac OS. I myself run windows only because i cannot afford to purchase a mac, yet. But if you can I would suggest getting a mac with the new Intel processor that can run cross platform. Just in case you need to run something in windows only. For a basic person that has no real needs like high-end digital video and picture editing like then a mac with the IBM based G5 processor is a must. Apple's software you cant beat for someone who likes music, managing your digital photos your email and Internet with Word or Excel. An apple is perfect, I wont crash it just works. If you are a big gamer than a PC is probably better for you since you can get a gaming oriented PC for cheap. Like i said, its all in what you really want

in case your MacBook relies on the Intel chipset, then you truly ought to run the two MacOS or domicile windows. in case you upload some third-party utility, it is likewise possible to run them the two on the comparable time. Why could you like domicile windows? nicely, the only reason i admire having it truly is for some very outstanding courses I ought to run. Others could have an truly massive investment in domicile windows utility they could't basically throw out. Others could choose domicile windows. Vista has a firewall (as does XP). It has extra aggresive protection settings than its predecessors. many people locate it particularly annoying and turn all of it the way down to the place it truly is truly pointless. so some distance as virus subjects, Macs are not immune, yet they have constantly had a extra clever protection form than domicile windows from the beginning up. Vista is approximately as undesirable XP in this regard...you nonetheless ought to have some third-party virus secure practices to be particularly secure. the main suitable device i've got ever had for working domicile windows is my cutting-edge iMac. Apple truly went above and previous offering the needed drivers to make XP artwork ideal on Apple hardware.

Macs and Desktops are similar and very different at the same time. For example, Macs are far superior when it comes to graphics programs. However, Its extremely difficult to upgrade a Mac yourself. Desktops are fully upgradeable, exchangeable and all on the fly. you want that new video card that everyones talking about? wth a Mac, you cant have it basically lol. i tend to get side tracked when responding, so ill end it here. basically, for hardware purposes go with Desktop, for graphical purposes, go with Mac

Get any of the new macs (Macbook, IMac) and install Windows XP on it. (You can even get one with Windows preinstalled from www.macmall.com).
That way, you have the best of both worlds, like having 2 systems for the price of one!
