You want to work toward A+ certification. Most employers will take a certification over a college degree when in comes to computers. There are dozens of books available. If you can not afford to purchase a book ot two try the local library. Also check with your local community college. May of them offer course for computer certifications. Financial aid is available for those.
As far as online course, they are not that helpful. To learn repair you actiual have to get your hands on the machine, break it and fix it a few times.
