omg there is so much one can do ...here are some of the things my mother does at church...

...go to a bead store...you can buy really nice beads (for necklaces etc.) glass and such for like 2 - 5 dollars a hank...(hank=single strand necklace) beading wire and such ...all inexpensive...and let them make there own bracelets.

...go to your nearest dollar store...purchase frames..the ones that hold multiple pics....buy several ...ask all to brink family pics and let them arrange in a frame and take home.

...recipe exchange....(my moms favorite) have all bring there favorite recipes...(provide pen and paper).

...also...at walmart or other craft store..purchase plasitc canvas...you can buy big sheets (cheaper...but u have to cut) or buy pre-cut (a lil more expensive) and provide different kinds of yarn and large needles for this...they can make coasters...or if you also get strips of magnets with glue back...they can use the design they created as a magnet.

there is so much more...but these require very little time to make...and they make friends while doing so.

good luck

Make whale paperweights; fill a balloon with Plaster Of Paris, but not all the way. Tie off the end and loop it around a fat pen, for the tail, let them dry and then take the kids out to play group games like Red Rover, Duck, Duck Goose, Musical Chairs, or Tag. Then when they are tired enough they can finish. Peel the balloon off the whale and decorate it with Magic Markers. A favorite with my Cub Scout Den was to make a pencil and penholder. Old coke cans have to be cut 1” from the bottom then make 8 cuts from the top ½” down, and fold the metal down inside the can to close off the sharp end (adults should do this before the event)—this becomes the paper clip holder. They cut empty paper towel and toilet paper rolls to three heights; 4” and two 3” long pieces—these 3 tubes become the pencil and pen holders. Then glue all these down to a base: either a wooden base (cut by adults before hand) or the plastic lid to a coffee can. Then you let them spray paint it. Make sure you have newspaper on the floor, and some way to wash their hands afterward. I did this just before Father’s Day and a couple of parents said that their boys really loved it because it made a good Father’s Day gift, and one that they made themselves.
