Scottish men did wear them. Called kilts. And I think they still looked manly. I liked Mel Gibson in his role as William Wallace, a Scottish hero in Braveheart, the movie. And of course, Sean Connery.
It requires a certain sort of physique to carry off this look, though. Thin legs, mayonnaise colored ones wouldn't look nice. And the design of the skirt should not be girly. Frilly ones would be out of the question.
In the middle east, the Arab men wear the long dress, like a long robe called the kandura, usually in white color and covers the body from head neck to toes including the arms. Looks good on them and doesn't make them look less like men.
Indians also wear a skirt when at home, like a sarong, either knee length or calf length.
I am not sure though about men wearing the skirt like women do, in the corporate scene or social one. But anything is possible, somebody just have to set a trend. Women have claimed trousers as their own, so I guess men would have the same prerogative over skirts. Let's wait for the day when fashion becomes unisex.

Kilts are not skirts. They are kilts. the only reason menn started wearing trousers is because of rigourous activities were a "skirt" was not practical. But the word skirt is masculine in orginallity. It came from the "skirt" of a man's over coat. If all men who wear skirts are gay, then by that logic all women are lesbians. Just think about what your saying and open your mind. Men are stuck in a fashoin rut b/c no one is daring enough. Kilts also aren't just for formal occasions. They were orginally everyday wear - and still can be.

People in the South Pacific (eg. Fiji, Tonga, Samoa etc), Africa, Middle East and in SE Asia (Indonesia, India etc) wear skirts as well as the Scots. Its not about fashion as it is just more pragmatic and confortable. There are those in fashion like Jean Paul Gaultier who created their own version of men's skirts a couple years ago. Some ignoramus's say its gay, others say its cool. At the end of the day, just wear what you are going to be comfortable wearing. But us heterosexuals from the South Pacific and other parts of the world know that only REAL MEN wear skirts!!!

Sure, as long as there was a substancial difference between mens' skirts and womens'. Wouldn't though, because frankly, I don't like to see mens' legs, women legs are much nicer, but for comfort, sure, mens' skirts would be good.

There's a guy in my school who wore skirts for months because he wanted to wear shorts during the winter and early spring but it wasn't allowed. He had a lot of fun with it and nobody made fun of him or anything. He's one of the most popular and coolest kids in school. I don't see a big problem with it being a regular thing for guys, they do wear kilts in Scotland of course...

Top ten reasons us guys shouldn't wear skirts.
10. 99.999% of us dont like to shave our legs.
9. We have hairy legs
8. Our legs are made for working, they are bulky and not appealing to the eye.
7. The only type of skirt men have ever worn was kilts and even that's just for special occasions.
6. We don't have time to make sure our skirt isn't flyin up and we prolly would be thrown in jail for flashin cuz we wouldn't care.
5. Girls look better in skirts.
4. The world would be confused if guys started wearing skirts
3. It would affect our manhood.
2. Many women do not wear anything under skirts, so men prolly wouldn't either, we have certain organs that we do not like having flappin around and havin cold air blow on them. Cold air doesn't mix with those things, they tend to go into hiding and if our skirt flew up girls would think mean thoughts.
And the number one reason men dont wear skirts, when we fart now, the pants hold in the fart somewhat, if we had skirt on, the fart would just flow right out and say hello and kill everyone like Pandora's box.
