Tattoos are not trashy, I don't have one but I am also looking forward to getting one. It is something that is permanent so really think about it. Most people get something that is special to them, you also want to check out the place before you get it. Look to see if they use new needles and clean their equipment after each and every person. The lower back is very sensitive, i watched my friend get hers there and she cursed and almost cried the whole time. If you are not good with pain then it isn't a good place to get one. The best way to tell where a good spot is,is to light use the finger tips and stroke different parts of the body, the parts that seem ticklish are tender spots and will hurt. Just do it for you, you only live once so live your live full of fun and just rock it.

You have to take some facts into account. Recently there have been reports of Person or Persons, at a tattoo salons, violating it's patrons. Even though that would be far from the truth in all areas, You still need to be aware, and take the proper precautions. So You should take Someone with You, that could do something, if anything inappropriate occurs. You did not mention Your age. If You are underage, it would be best to wait. Do some investigation. Go to several shops and check them out. See if You feel comfortable there. Ask about Their precautions on safety, and clean implements. Make Yourself go to several, at least five, and as many as up to ten. Ask to look at the release forms, to see what they promise about the finalization of Their work, and what the dangers are. It should list the possible risks, just like a surgery does. And if You can't witness the tattoo's being applied, just listen while You are there for screaming, whimpering, and so on. And talk to as many People as You can, when You see a tattoo, ask about their procedure. Ask how it went, if they would do it again, and if they had any complications, ie; fever, infection, etc. You can't ever be too careful. And remember it is forever, what might be sexy now, may not look so fresh later on in life. By the way I don't have any tattoo's. Never wanted one. I guess You can tell I am a Mom. I am sure that lots of People have gotten tattoo's and are very happy with them. Just make sure You have all the information that You need before You make the leap.

Best Wishes and God Blless

In response to Your second additional information, on whether the tattoo will look, as You put it trashy. That would be in the eye of the beholder. Some guys might like it, some guys might not. When You see a cute guy just ask them what they think, and keep asking until You get all the info You need on if You should proceed or not.

The way that I see it is if tattoos are done respectfully then they are fine. Flowers on your lower back are fine but you have to think about this....Do you want to have kids one day, and if you do, do you want to have an epideral. If you do, a tattoo on your lower back should not be done because if you do, you can count it out. The doctors will not allow it if you have a tattoo in the area that the needle is placed. The other thing is if that tattoo is something that you are going to want 30 years from now. If sometime down the line you deside you dont want it anymore, your only removal option in laser removal, which is extreamly painful and you are looking at about $1,000 per square inch of tattoo. It all comes down to what you want...I would personally say, Think long and hard about it before you do it. I think if you are having this many doubts about it now, before you have it done, then right now is not going to be the best idea to get it right now....

Wait until you're sure. There is nothing trashy about tattoos. They are a unique and beautiful way to express yourself. But you need to make sure that you know what you want, and that you go to a reputable tattoo shop. Do some checking around first. Remember that what ever you decide to have put on will be with you for a very long time.

I have wanted a tattop for years. I am 42, and finially got one . I got one on my lower back and it has the names of my kids connected by vines and a butterfly on each side. I love it. I always put it off but now that I have it I wish I had done it sooner. I also love the way it feels when they are doing it. I plan on expanding mine when I get enough money.
I told my daughter she could get one when she turned 18 and she did. If your dad thinks 16 is old enough then go for it.
Don't wait until you are as old as me and have to worry about if you look trashy. Your own opinion is all that you have to live with. You are the one who will wear it for the rest of your life, so make sure it is what you want and just be yourself. Good luck

I think the flower tattoo on the lower back sounds pretty, however tattoos are permanent, and if it is done in color, the colors have a tendency to fade over time. A friend of mine had a tattoo on her ankle, and finally got sick of it. Over the past year she has been going through the process of having it removed, which is done by laser, and can be fairly painful. The back is nice though because you can cover it if you want fairly easily. I would suggest thinking out the pros and cons of it ahead of time...it sounds like it will be a very pretty design, however will you be comfortable with it when you are 60? :-)

Good luck with your decision!

If you're old enough, positive you want to do it, and getting something that won't be objectionable when you're a grandparent, tattoos are fine. But, they hurt like crazy, can spread infection easily, and often get removed later in life after regret. If you reaaaly want to get one, go for a small tattoo, like a line of flowers, on the back of your wrist, your ankle, or on your lower back. Don't put it somewhere you're likely to regret, like right on your arm. Good luck, and if it's not too big, and in a less obvious location, it won't be trashy.

Sounds like it won't be trashy. A word of advice, make sure it is what you really want. Make sure it is something you won't regret 20 years down the road. It it cost a lot more to remove a tattoo than it does to get one put on, plus it hurts a lot worse.

Many people face the situation you are in. With this day and age, if you end up not liking your tattoo in years, you can alter it to something new or even get it removed. However, I've been told that removal hurts worse than the actual tattoo and costs much more also.

But it's a personal expression and if you get something close to your heart, you'll probably be very happy with your choice.

GOOD LUCK!

tattoos are permanent. If you are going to get one, make sure it is in an inconspicuous place. I once considered a tattoo and now I am glad I did not. They fade and after a few years can look dated and trashy. I am glad I never got one because I enjoy my body without any blemishes.
