The number (999)999-9999 has been coming up on my mobile phone and leaving static for messages. When I try to call the number back there is only a dead line. Can anyone help in explaining who the number belongs to or how to stop the calls?

It's probably a hacked number - I don't think there is a 999 area code.

I can remember my parents' phone number - Dad died in 1982 - and I can remember my house phone number, but I've had to make a label for the back of my mobile because I just can't hold on to that number. Maybe because I never phone myself!

That's odd. There's no such area code. Freaky!
Maybe someone is trying to contact you from beyond.

I think no one...It sometime appears on phone because poeple are using either calling card to call you or using Internet to call you. My father uses Yahoo Msgr to call me sometimes and I get 1-77777777777 on caller ID......

The phone number, as you have typed it, cannot exist because the area code does not exist.
