Make shure your laptop is AT LEAST A P3 600mhz (Pentium 3 processor running at 600 Megahurtz) and at least 128mb or ram. If not, then this might be your frist hang up... next, make shure your useing highspeed internet service. Look at the router, and see if there is a light marked internet, and its on, if thats on the internet is working on your router.... NEXT, you might need to flush the card, otherwise rest it... this is going to be tricky and follow my directions to the letter, if there is a space in between something type the space too... here.
Go to start, and in the run box type this; CMD. Then press enter.
next type ipconfig (this should show all of your details of your wireless card) Next, type ipconfig /release (this resets all settings to nothing) Next type ipconfig/ renew (this resets up your connection) Thats it.
now if this does not work, I would assume, if everything else it working, then one of two things, A. your PCMCIA (wireless card) is shot... B. The port is bad, to wich the card is pluged into...
good luck

First off you will need cable or DSL internet service installed from your local provider. Then you will need a cable or DSL Modem to connect to the feed or (incoming line). Now if you want to use wireless, you will need a wireless router to connect to the Modem of your choice. A desktop or laptop with a wireless card installed or a usb dongle plugged in on usb port. The IP provider will need the mac address of the modem so that they can set the server to get the correct address to you. You will need the mac address of the router for the pc. So if you think you can use dialup service, you are incorrect as this will not work on a wireless system. Lynksys makes a wireless cable gateway all in one system. The IP provider will need both mac addresses of modem and router. Install dongle software, insert usb dongle and you're on the net.

First the basics, is your operating system, memory, and processor compatible with the router and card? If so, are you trying to connect correctly? ie: does your computer think that you are trying to connect via dial up? Also, if you disconnected the cable/dsl modem try shutting it off and turning it back on. If all else fails, call Linksys at (800) 546-5797.
