If your sake is correct regarding earth as the battle ground, then Pat Robertson is actually the brilliant Anti-Christ genius whose strategy has fooled those of us who have half-a-brain into thinking he's a stupid bumbling fool.
After the Iraqi court executes Saddam Hussein, there will be revelations that he arose after a 3 day layover, that he was truly good and has died for our sins. Then a whacko cult like the one that started 2000 years ago will rise up around his memory. The believers will then pray to Jesus Hussein to book accommodations for a 2nd coming to purge our land of evil.
But Pat Robertson, with the help of the N.S.A. and Dick Cheney (they don't let useless George in on it because he only focuses on clearing ranch brush) will dismiss the rumors as a vast left-wing conspiracy intended to spread discontent. And raise taxes.
But only if your sake is correct.

Yes beyond a shadow of a doubt, heaven is a place. Hell is a place. Earth is I guess you could callit a battle ground. On earth we learn to trust and obey God which will determine much concerning our life with God in the afterlife. The other option is never ending eternal suffering separated from God in Hell. Once in Hell there is no truth that a person (soul) may be relieved of the everlasting sufferring. This world, earth,is filled with Gods glory in truths. This world is the roaming place for satan to deceive people that God does not love them; that God does not exhist; that there is no eternal life. Putting all that together a person could easily see this earth as a battle ground. God and satan are not the only participators though. We humans are called to follow God through Jesus, His Son to resist the many lies of the enemy, satan.

IT is the spiritual battle ground, i believe in a higher power and like in any war, we all have our orders and we must try to carry them out, the messengers come in many forms to hide from the evil one, some are good people that never done things of the world, some will be drunks, drug addicts, but if you are on the higher power side he will redeem you form you captivity, we are special and will be accounted far,
I am a warrior and I try to fulfill my missions of my spiritual higher power

I grew up in a large family. Whenever we would fight, we would claim to have all the angels on our side, and whatever sibling we were mad at had the devils, so I guess earth is the battle ground.
You could also consider all the wars that have been fought in the name of religion.

I wouldn't say battle ground but definitley the middle ground. It's the basis of reward and punishment so to speak. The basis being earth.

If heaven and hell are real, more than likely god and satan are real. If God is real and he already knows how your whole life is going to go, then he knows whether you're going to heaven or hell before he even creates you.
To answer your question, earth is not the battlefield, it is somewhere to go to do things that add up to nothing until god says that you are dead and are then sent to the respected place of your eternity. remember that no matter whether god has determined whether you are going to heaven or hell, he loves you.

If that were the circumstances, I would concider the world a test that would determine in wich prooves where you belong, and when you get there, that is the start of your life.
But hey, thats just my opinion.
