Seven dust or seven spray for vegi or for ornamentasl, depending on what you have. If it is for eatables read the label and follow directions brands vary on the length of time you can harvest after treating. There is another product called Safer-Soap. It is a spray but instead of pesticides it is made up of fatty acids that kill chewing and sucking insects. It can be used the same day of harvest. It depends on how bad you have grasshoppers, if you are not "infested" the safer-soap will work. If you have lots and lots you will need to use the seven. Once you have them down in numbers you can go to the soap. Also you will have to repeat your pesticide for a few weeks to get the majority of the unhatched eggs.
I now have lots of toads to keep the unwanted pest away, but a few years ago I had grasshoppers upon grasshoppers...looks like some kind of "B" movie!
God luck, be patient but diligent!
God Bless

Pesticides will hurt your plants, plus if you're planning on eating anything from them, you'll get cancer (not guaranteed). The best all-natural way is to use lemon-scented dish soap diluted with water in a spray bottle and spray them all down.

Try planting something else that they like even more, preferably away from the plants you don't want eaten. I think it's called a "sacrificial crop."
That's what I do to stop rabbits from eating certain plants in my garden.

I was told that a very potent brew of chilli and onion mixed with a bit of soap (to help it stick) will deter them....they ate every rose that tried to bloom this year, I wish I'd seen some of the other answers here! lol
