It means "I don't totally believe you, but I can't prove otherwise, so I will take your word for it."

All of you are mostly correct... The benefit of doubt means that although all the evidence supports the suspected view, there is enough doubt in the evidence to suggest and support an opposing view.

A giving of the benefit of doubt can be seen in the phrase "Guilty until proven innocent". That is giving someone the Benefit of Doubt.

It means that one person is tired of the disagreement and feels that if the other person is making his point so strongly that I give you the point until I can disprove it later on I believe it for now and allow you to understand that but still hol;d a doubt in my mind. It kinda ends a disagreement

The phrase "I will give you the benefit of the doubt" means that what the person saying doesn't really sound tight, but they'll go along with it anyway.

it should be "I'll give you the benefit of the doubt." When somebody tells someone that it means that they are going to trust their story because they 'doubt' the presented evidence.
