A friend of my moms’ daughter is 12 I’ve always thought of her as a sister a 14year old convinced her to have sex with him by telling her she wouldn’t be popular if she didn’t do it and the mom doesn’t want to prosecute him what should I do?

Well, if she is pregnant (And i hope that she is not) he is still responsible as the father. While I can't believe the mother is not taking a stand for her daughter... you should. Talk to the guy and explain to him what he's done.. especially if she is pregnant. More important... talk to the girl. She is an emotional wreck right now. If she had sex for that reason she is not very secure with herself, and right now she is facing big decisions that a 12 year old is not prepared for. At the very least, get her to a doctor and discuss birth control. Be a friend, but make sure to discuss what are good reasons for having sex and what are inappropriate (like to be popular). I hope it all works out...

First you need to talk to that child and be straight. She seems to have a self-esteem problem. Let her know that hanging out with the "in" crowd doesn't make her popular it actually works the opposite most of the people who actually make a difference in life don't look up to the "in" crowd type of people. Sex, would be your next topic w/this child Make sure you let her know parenting is for ever and so is AIDS. don't beat around the bush be direct. If she is pregnant, she's to young for a child adoption/abortion. It's time for a long talk.

You have no rights in this area, unfortunately. You can talk to the little girl, try to convince her that this isn't a smart thing to do and the older kid lied to her...but that's about it. Unless the mom wants to prosecute, your hands are tied.

Depending on your local age of consent, that is most likely statutory rape in that he is of age and she is not and therefore cannot consent. Go to the authorities.
