Best way to do it is to open your pc and look for the make and model, which is usually printed in the motherboard. If you want to go fancier or can't open your CPU, you can look at the numbers that show in the screen right after you start the computer, the lowest line will have a code showing your motherboard manufacturer, chipset and motherboard model. I got very used to it because I see a lot of biostars and PCchips. If you knew the make of your motherboard, maybe there are more ways... let us know.

It's usually printed on the motherboard in between the PCI slots. If not there sometimes it is printed on a label on a pci slot at the edge of the board. If you cannot find either of those you can sometimes look it up by FCC id number which is required to be printed there.

Belarc Advisor will tell you this plus much more by downloading and installing it into your pc. Go to www.belarcadvisor.com and there you save it to my documents. Scan the file for viruses(never had any before) and then install it. Give it a minute or so after agreeing to the terms, and you will see the board make and ram installed , plus much more.
It's free!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
