North Island is NOT land fill. Coronado and North Island were once separate land masses separated by a marsh area known as "Spanish Bight" which was filled prior to WWII. North Island has been expanded over the years by land fill as has Coronado. Much of the land fill expansion of Coronado belongs to the San Diego port District and not Coronado.

I was just researching this and found this page. I've been to both Coronado and Silver Strand. I find some of these answers confusing. It appears that there is no consensus. I think most of the answers given here are merely just opinions and no research was conducted prior to the individual offering their opinion.

It's not an island, it's a peninsula. Not man made.
