My neighbor has the really annoying rooster. It crows all hours of the night, eats cat food instead of its own food, and gets up on my porch and craps everywhere. One night he got attacked and carried off by a dog, and one of the other neighbors seen the dog carrying the rooster and somehow managed to get it from the dog and brung it back to my neighbor! Anyways, it injured one of his wings and he can't fly up in the tree he used to sleep in. Now since he is frightened of the dog, he will not sleep in my neighbor's yard anymore; he sleep in mine. It is right by my back porch and there is crap everywhere because that's his hangout at night. We've tried everything: running him off with broom, throwing a bucket of water on him, etc. We really like our neighbor and have tried to hint around that he's bothering us, but he's an old man and doesn't try to pen him up or anything. Any suggestion on how to get rid of this chicken?

Tie fishing string around where he always goes. He will not see it and bump into it and back away, it will not hurt him but he will learn to stay out of that area.

Why "hint around"? Talking about it directly to your neighbor will be less damaging to your friendship than sitting around stewing behind his back or -- horror of horrors! -- posting the story on the internet for random people like us to discuss. Tell your neighbor straight out that the chicken is a problem and suggest he be caged (the chicken, not your neighbor!). Also, iIf he is kept in a totally dark place at night, he should not crow so much. Crowing is triggered by light. Roosters will crow if there is a full moon -- or an electric light that he thinks is the moon. Regarding suggestions to kill the chicken, I would not do that, because it is somebody else's property. And although you might not like the rooster, it is a pet and how would you like it if somebody killed YOUR pet?

Build your neighbour a small exact panel of your porch, put it in his yard and hopefully the rooster will stay put. Either that, or you could borrow a friends dog for three days just to scare him and run him off.

The city you live in, is it zoned for livestock/farm animals? You may want to contact animal control as this animal is on your property and may be in violation. I know you like the neighbor but it's not fair that his rooster craps on your property. Why don't you try talking to the neighbor and tell him that you like him but his rooster makes alot of racket and that his crap is attracting alot of flies. Good luck I had to call animal control on my neighbor as they had 12 dogs over the leagl limit for the city I live in. It's harsh but sometimes you gotta do it!!

make a spray bottle of bleach and water and this will keep him away and not really harm the rooster or they are good with gravy!

Kill it. Deny everything. Or call the animal control officer and let them have it.
