My fiancee actually prefers to be served, not complimented. He shows his love by helping people, and that's also how he feels loved.

I love telling him how great he looks, how much he means to me, and how good he is at everything he does, like cooking, fixing things, writing papers, just about anything. Touching him, hugging him, holding his hand - making physical contact when you tell him something can also help him know how much you mean what you're saying. And I make a point of telling him "I love you" just about every time it pops into my head. He usually starts laughing at me, cuz I'll sometimes say it again within a minute or two of saying it. And we have funny ways of saying I love you, that are personal to us.

Mostly a guy needs to know that he is deeply loved and appreciated at home, that his hard work doesn't go unnoticed, and that he is valued for more than just what he can do, but also for who he is.
