If you mean on the inside, I think I know why. Because society has dictated our way of life from the time we wake up in the morning, until we go to sleep at night-even when we sleep sometimes. "They" tell us what to wear, what to eat, how to dress, what to watch, what to think, what to read-just about everything we do, is subconsciously one way or another put into our brains by "they".
Who exactly are "they"? "They" are all around us. They live in our TVs, on our radios, at our jobs, in the media, on our buses and trains, in the grocery store.
"They" are anyone with no authority whatsoever who think that they either know-it-all, think-they-it-know-it-all, want-to-know-it-all, or just have-enough-of-it-all to tell you what to do. Sometimes we, ourselves, can become a "they" if we're not careful enough.
"They" have the biggest influence on today's youth, but that's not to say adults are immune either. "They" thrive on those of us who watch BET, MTV, FOX, ABC, and all other television networks. "They" thrive when we run to the malls or clothing shops to purchase one and two hundred dollar pair jeans and T-shirts because it's 'the style' or when teenage girls are diagnosed with anorexia and bulimia because Ashanti, Christina Aguilera, and Jessica Simpson can wear a size 0-even when they know it's not healthy for everyone's body type. "They" are the ones reaping in the funds when these same teenage girls go out and get plastic surgery to make them look like Barbie or Pamela Anderson Lee.
"They" are the ones who teach our young men that it's okay to be a 'playa' and a 'pimp'. That life is about diamond earrings and Cadillacs. That women are nothing but 'beeches' (I know, I had to spell it that way) and 'hoes'.
And "They" are the ones telling us not to accept others for who they are. "They" are the ones saying 'if you can't be like this, you are not normal and you should burn in hell.'. The same ones who believed that Native Americans, African Americans, Mexicans, Irish, and anyone not like them in skin color, religion, background, or culture were unworthy, are the same ones telling you the exact same thing about gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and Trans-gendered.
Regardless of what you're beliefs are, this country was founded on freedom, but "They" would have you believe different. Just because one person believes one thing, doesn't mean the next person has to, so who's to say who's right and who's wrong?
And this is not to say that I blame society for all our problems, or that we can't think for ourselves, but the question "Why are we so Fugly?" This is the answer.
Is it society's fault that some of us-not all, I'm saying some-are weaklings and can't think for ourselves and feel that we have to had the latest fashion, the newest design, the latest track-even if it's the stupidest song ever played on the radio. And those of us who, in striving to be original, copy-cat the uniqueness of others, falling victim to the same disease as everyone else doing the same exact thing as everybody else.
Why are we so fugly? Because we're human, and some humans, while striving for perfection in themselves have to find an imperfection in somebody else. Because we live and breathe and bleed and feel. And because we feel such insecurity inside ourselves that in order for us to hide it all, we play on other people's insecurities and emotions just to make ourselves feel better.
Like I said, it isn't all of us, just some. A vast majority of some.

Well, I wish I could be as confident as everyone else, but honestly, I think it's easy for us to find fault with others and hurt each other. So, we start believing it and I think it sucks. I wish people would just get on with their lives and realise that we're all messed up, either inside or out, and that's not worth a comment other than, oh you too?
