The huge roller coaster at New York, New York is very exciting and fast!
There is The Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay with real sharks.
There are real lions at MGM.
And the white tigers are at the Mirage.
Behind the Flamingo, in the pool area, is a wonderful collection of exotic birds. You can walk among them - it's open to the public.
The Imperial Palace has a huge exhibit of antique autos from around the world.
The Venetian and the Bellagio both have serious art museums - also open to the public. The Venetian also has real canals and real gondolas that you can ride.

I just got back from vegas on friday and I was there for just under a week. Aside from vegas I did the following: Red Rock Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Death Valley, Mojave National Preserve, Valley of Fire, Zion National Park, Hoover Dam and Lake Mead, and ummm I think that is it. Im a geologist so I had an interest in that sorta stuff. But if your looking to do just one...and close by I would say Valley of Fire, its about 40-60 minutes away from LV.

What do you mean by usual? Because although Vegas has many casinos, dance clubs, restaurants, shows......etc. Believe me they are all different. Okay, the casinos all have different themes but they offer the same gaming.
But, Vegas does have the Hoover Dam, Red Rock Canyon, Lake Mead and the Valley of fire. All of this is in the same area, and its great fun.

Red Rock Canyon to go hiking/driving through, Lake Mead National Recreation Area (about 15 miles South on the 95), and Mt. Charleston.
