Seriously I am sick of waiting. Oh and please dont feed me any B.S. about it killing braincells because it doesnt. I do not drink alcohol and quit smoking cigarettes 8 months ago. Both of these deadly toxins are legal, why cant Mary Jane be too?

This is to the girl who says pot does kill brain cells: Go to college, and learn about the brain. I know I did, and I am telling you that in 1998 it was discovered that killing brain cells is actually a very hard thing to do. Also stem cells can regrow brain cells over time. The affect that Marijuana has on the brain is that is increases the synapses between dendrites which means processing information can take longer. After a month of not smoking, the dendrites grow back. Hope that SHE reads this.

This is America, baby! Just look at this site to get a taste of where people's mind-sets are...
If you look at Holland, where pot is legal, you'll see how different the Dutch are from us. They're educated, secular, logical and rational... the polar opposite of where most American's are. Until Americans can catch up with them, look forward to having pot be illegal, but huge machine guns availible at your local Wal-Mart! Love it or leave it!

Very good question! I agree that I am also tired of waiting. I believe pot is less harmful than both alcohol and tobacco. I understand it isn't totally healthy if smoked but I think it marijuana gets a ridiculously bad rap. Some cities, such as Denver have legalized carrying certain amounts, but the state and national govt. are still breathing down our necks. Our country is so ignorant that growing hemp, which is a widely prosperous and quick resource for so many materials, is even banned.

The police have more important people to arrest other than me when I'm relaxing at home, watching a movie, and smoking a joint. I'm no harm to anyone and shouldn't be treated as such.

The truth is, it's healthier than smoking or drinking, and much less addictive. The only thing it does that is bad besides slowly kill you (slower than cigarettes) is that it puts you in a high state where your reactions in your own little world affect those around you, giving you no true idea of what you are doing to others (my friends dad got his leg broken by some body who was high, and the man claimed he was smashing a guitar on the ground. The governmental theory is that if they legalize one drug, then they will have to legalize another and so on and so on

Ummmm don't hold your breath. I totally agree that marijuana is actually healthier for you than cigarettes. Until the politicians pull their heads out long enought to get fresh air it's not gonna happen. And if we want to look at this logically making it legal is a great way to cut down on overdoses caused by marijuana being spliced by harder drugs because the gov't could control the quality. It would also give us a huge new avenue of tax money. And just for the record studies have shown that weed isn't nearly as addictive as alcohol or ciggs.

I dunno, but they might as well do it. Like you said, alcohol and cigarettes are both legal and they're both far more harmful to your body than marijuana is.

Despite popular belief, marijuana is not addictive (people who think they're addicted to it just come to believe that they are, when in all reality, a person can stop smoking pot any time they please), and it doesn't harm your brain cells unless you smoke quite a few joints on a daily basis.

It'll happen eventually, give it time.

In 1936, I think, the US government made it illegal because the wood & paper industier was scared they would loose money to the hemp product.

The US Fedral government has legalised THC pills that your doctor can proscibe.

The FDA gave permission that EX. to be studied on phsitso.

I believe marijuana will be made legal when certain private interest groups are unable to maintain a large profit margin.
