would a bad fuel pump on a 1997 pontiac grand am cause the ingnition module not to have spark?

No. There is no connection between them except for the computer (ECM) If you have a bad wire (hot) to the ECM it could effect both. Check the ECM fuse.

No to the fuel pump. By no spark do you mean no power to the module or no spark at the spark plug.
No spark at the spark plug check the crank shaft position sensor.
No power at the module check the ignition switch.

Check the Ignition Switch..N-Bodys are known for ingition switch issues.
