i have been losing my hair for about 20 years at an excellerated rate, in small clumps, after poisoning my scap with relaxer chemicals and hair bleach, back then. now i am menopausal, which may be making things worse. i use kneading/pulling from an old method from the 70's, a product called "wild growth" twice a week, and a recipe from the net with onions, nettle and alcohol. the last one seemed to at least stop it from dropping in clumps and drop less, and i can wash it without worrying about pulling alot out when detangling it after a wash, so i can now wash it more often, at least!

i am just not sure if i am seeing new growth yet......any experienced compadres out there?

Although I do not have personal experience using this treatment, I have heard that it does work to get hair growing:

** 2 TBSP freshly grated ginger root
** 2 TBSP jojoba or sesame oil

* Put in a glass container & set on a warm windowsill for several days to "steep".
* Rub this mixture into your scalp then sit in the sun (or a warm place) for about 30 minutes.
* Shampoo well.
* Rinse with apple cider vinegar and water - 1:8 ratio.

** Repeat this procedure as often as you can.

I am sorry to hear about your problem. I can sympathise, and i am only 25! During my teenage years i had a fantastic head of long thick dark hair, but when i got to my 20's something went wrong! I had a contraceptive implant put in my arm that after 2 months i noticed too much hair coming out when i washed/brushed my hair! I was shocked and scared and could not get the implant out fast enough (it was caused by inbalanced hormones). I went onto the internet to see if there were any supplements that i could take... I found Nourkrin. It is a small tablet that you take twice a day for an initial 6 months and then once a day for maintenance. It is completely natural and is made from herbs and the cartilage of deep sea fish) It is available in health food stores or online. I have noticed incredible results and would recommend that you should give it a go.

If you are menopausal most likely your thyroid is under active. One of the symptoms is loosing hair.
You should seek medical advice.
Under Google do a search for hypothyroidism and look for symptoms. Also at your local library go the librarian and have her help research the subject.
Good luck. Don't spend your money on useless gimmes

Saw Palmetto

Research shows that saw palmetto is probably the most effective of all natural hair loss remedies because it helps to prevent the development of the hair follicle killing substance known as DHT. Take as directed.

Ginkgo Biloba

Ginkgo biloba helps to improve circulation to the scalp therefore enabling more nutrients to reach the hair follicles.

Rosemary

One of the oldest hair loss remedies, mix 1 part rosemary oil with 2 parts almond oil and massage the scalp.

Licorice

Another natural compound that helps to prevent the development of the hair follicle killing substance known as DHT. Add licorice to your normal shampoo.

Horsetail

The high concentration of selenium and silicon found in this herb make it one of the better hair loss remedies. Add 1 teaspoon of dried horsetail to an herbal tea.

Vitamin B Complex

Vitamin B aids in healthy hair growth. Take 50 mg three times a day.

Sesame

Sesame seeds have ranked high on the list of chinese hair loss remedies for a long time. You can sprinkle the seeds on a variety of dishes.

Lie Down At An Angle

For 15 minutes per day, lie down on a slanted board with your head lower than your feet. This helps deliver nutrient rich blood to the scalp.

Biotin

Studies have shown that hair loss is associated with deficiencies in biotin, so one of the easiest hair loss remedies is to eat plenty of foods rich in biotin.

Foods such as brewer's yeast, brown rice, bulgur, green peas, lentils, oats, soybeans, sunflower seeds, and walnuts, or take a supplement of 300 mcg daily.

Soy

Another one of the more effective hair loss remedies is soy. Foods that contain soy, such as soybeans, tempeh, and tofu have been known to reduce the formation of the hair loss causing compound known as DHT.

Safflower

Safflower helps to open up the blood vessels in the scalp and the improved circulation helps get more nutrients to the hair follicles.

This is one of the more flexible hair loss remedies because you can take safflower oil and massage your scalp, or take a few tablespoons of whole safflower seeds and grind them up and then add the powder to an herbal shampoo.
