has anyone actually won a prize off of poetry.com or any other poetry sites.........tell me your stories........share them if you want....thanks.

Poetry.com is pretty much a rip off. Every contest poem I've ever entered, I've won something. So don't look to poetry.com for real criticism or praise. Just use the site to browse and post. But everybody wins because they want you to purchase their books.

poetry.com is a scam site. Did you enter a contest for a $10,000 prize? Did they say you won, want to to travel to Florida, and try to get you to buy a book? If you did, they scammed you, and there's a lawsuit out for them. When you said poetry.com I had to say something.

My advice is to stay away from poetry.com.
I submitted a poem to them and it was published. I bought a book from them.
It did not take me long after I receieved my book to find out that their standards are low. One poem was the lyrics to a 1980's song.
Some of the poems I enjoyed reading but I did not beileve that Poetry.com chose the best poems for the book. I felt they put any and all poems in the book, as long as you bought a copy of the book.

There's a thing called vanity press. Usually, to get your poetry published, they make you buy an anthology, hence the name vanity press. They pubish anyone as long as you give them money. I fell for it a long time ago with World of Poetry. What a rip off. If you want to get published, send it out. Read poetry. There is no money in poetry. Poets aren't rich. You can pay to publish your own book.

Yea i won tickets to some poetry convention
and also the chance to enter my poem in the poetry contest, but nothing tangible was ever won :(

yes i wrote a poem called Life on Poetry.com and it is being published and I wrote another one called No-one search for me if you would like my name is Morgan Nall Life goes like this
Friends will come and go,
life stays with you till you die.
We must always need help in life,
that's where we turn to God.
Friends will help you get to the future,
but who will help you get rid of the past?
A journal can only solve some of your problems,
but where will you put them when the journal is full?
Some friends will lead,
some will follow,
where will you be?
You yourself can only hope to solve problems,
but under the hand of God he WILL solve them.
How many friends have broken a promise?
Most?
None? If so you are lucky to have friends like those.
Friends will come and go but only you can bring yourself, friends, and family together to have fun.
Make sure you keep friends ok?

I'm scared to post my poetry. I think that it sucks because it was written by me, a 14 year old. It can't be good.

I was given an "honorary mention" once before, unfortunately so were about 5,000 others!!!!!It was from Poetry World.

i received the same thing as the previous person it's pretty stupid because that meant that everyone elses poem was good too.
