Everyone says to be loyal and buy American. Where is the loyalty of the American Auto Industry to it's consumers? They make an inferior product on purpose. The only way to make American cars better is to buy the best cars available no matter what country they're made in.

loylty and unions aside..... you buy a american car the money is reinvested in the economy and goes through a multiplier effect......... can be calculated if you want.... end the money to another country it fuels their economy. As a side note America Autoworkers have dug a whole that makes foreign cars more attractive..... factory non-money wage exceeds $70/hr at GM, Toyota is less tan $30..... soon you will only be able to buy Toyota..... Unions are in no way good for a free economy

Depends on who you're asking.

You have two American auto makers (GM and Ford) where the profits, plants and equipment are produced in the U.S.

You have a number of foreign-owned auto makers (including Chrysler, which is a German company now) where the plants and equipment are on U.S. soil but the profits are repatriated to the home country.

What matters is efficiency, employment and the economic multipliers that participate in this chain of production.

It matters a great deal to all the auto workers here in the USA. It is their job, family, pride and joy of doing a great job. Why would you want to send more American money to foreign companies, who could care less about Americans.
