Because we are voyeurs.
It's been around for awhile (think COPS, that's incredible, candid camera), so I don't know that it will ever completely burn out.

There will never be an end to it, precisely because people are so fascinated by it. It is a double edged sword.
We are fascinated with it because there is nothing better than watching real people do stupid *** stuff on camera. It is like we are watching them in a fishbowl!
Also, good television, from the "old days" I guess has been outdated, and become boring... That's why we have Nick at Night! :)

Reality tv? LOL thats a load of crap. If there was such a thing as reality tv then we would be seeing how to live as a homeless person or a crack head. Those shows suck! One can only hope that there is a end and that someone gets fired for the stupidity of them all.

Everyone is fascinated with reality TV because they consider it more real than their own life. They choose to live someone else's life on screen because it is easier than living their own. Sadly I think there will never be an end to reality TV (short of a nuclear war), there is a limitless amount of money to be made and plenty of sods at home to drool and watch.

It's just a phase in the world. It will pass, but something else will come back, which will prolly be worse. People watch them because it is the 'in' thing right now. Eventually everyone will get tired of it, but for now it's staying. Some reality shows make people feel better about there own lives, but mostly they just don't have a life.

You..You...You mean it's not real?lol! I wish it ended ages ago, but it's like a ratings war between reality tv and reruns all the time lately. All the good shows come on when we should be sleeping

The most likely reason is because it's very entertaining. Some of them are doing some seriously stupid stuff out there, and we get to watch them act like morons.
I don't think it'll ever die out, because like the example with COPS, they've been doing this for many seasons. And I don't think we'll ever be non-fascinated about it. It's sometimes so stupid it makes us laugh, or so funny we cry with joy.

beacuse it shows how real people would act in real life situations and i don't think there would be an end to that because as long as we're living in the real world there would be enough reality shows to be shown.

except for funniest home videos (on occasion)...Inever watch reality TV....but I doubt there will ever be an end to it!
