You cannot post "Thou Shalt Not Steal," "Thou Shalt Not Commit
Adultery" and "Thou Shall Not Lie" in a building full of
lawyers, judges and politicians -- it creates a hostile work
environment.

Y'all need to chill. I know there is for sure several laws regarding this issue. I am not sure but it probably varies from state to state. I don't think it's because it creates a hostile working enviroment??LMAO!! Silly old bear, Jayslug!! I think the 'legal' reason is probably something along the lines of it being unbiast to bear religious writings because people have so many different religiong. A Jewish criminal, for example would probably see the commandments as a sign that the court is 'under the influence' so to speak, of one certain religion. Therefore, the criminal could claim prejudice...blah, blah, blah!! My theory?? Kinda more along the lines of; prevention of conspiracy to persuade a jury into a guilty verdict. YeAH I don't really know where that came from, but it sounded better than some of the answers on here!!LMAO!! PEACE.

Because of the vast liberal conspiracy to kill god, booooo, boooo, heck I don't know and I don't think it really matters, it's not like the Columbine murderers are gonna look at "thou shalt not kill" and decide "ya know, God's right man, lets call the whole thing off". if you ask me we got way bigger problems in this country to worry about than if the sign is on government property or not, but by the Constitution, it really should'nt be there, people just did'nt care back then, but then again alot of people don't seem to care about the constitution either unless it supports their arguments.

the reason why some ppl want to remove the 10 commandments from US courthouses is that the USA is supposedly a 'secular' country.. and in secular countries u can't do things which may be hostile to other religions...

But I am against removing the 10 commandments... why would anyone wanna remove the 10 commandments? those laws are universal and i believe all religions agree with it!

because, in spite of the liberal bashing going 'round here, there does need to be a "partition" between religion and the law. they dont always mix well---witness parts of the middle east. BUT, it maybe also true that things can be carried too far. common sense is not reigning supreme these days.

You can post "Thou Shalt Report you in Violation of 'Not a Question' ", in other words I have reported you for not asking a question. In the future please refer to the YahooAnswers 'Terms of Service' before posting a question or answer. Thank you.

Where would we be if all lawyers, judges, and politicians never stole, were immoral, or lied? Oh yeah, it's called heaven.
