We started reading it in my history class, but we didn't finish it because everyone thought it was boring because the author was reading it on tape. Someone told me that they killed Piggy, is that true? What else happened? I was so sad when I found that out, just making sure it's true. Piggy rocked!

To the English teahers:
Thanks for the recomendation! My 8th grade Language Arts teacher gave me A Northern Light by Jennifer Donnelly on the last day of school this year(I'm going to 9th grade next year). It's now my favorite book. I just got Lord Of The Flies from the library and I'm excited to read it. Thanks again!!

In Lord of The Flies, Piggy does die when Ralph drops a huge rock opn his head from up above on a stone ledge. Then Jack's tribe starts hunting for Ralph, who is all on his own. They light fire to the island to try and search out Ralph, but right before they manage to kill Ralph, Ralph bumps into a naval oficer as he is running away from the tribe. The naval ship saw the smoke from the pig roasting fire, andeverybody is rescued. Also, before that, the entire group goes into a trance, and when Simon comes out of the forest to tell them the beast is dead, the group mistakes him for the monster and they kill him. His body floats out to sea. Vote for me!

Piggy dies and so does Simon. Both of them rocked. I recommend that u borrow the book from your local library and finish it on your own. It's too good of a book to not finish it.

Read the book! It's exciting and very worthwhile. Okay, okay, I'm an English teacher, but my students always love it! You're on summer vacation now - you have the time!

It is an amazing book--great theme. Of course, as a Lit teacher, I am biased, but it's great. If you want to watch a film version, rent the old version (the b&w), the new version is rather gratuitous.

there's alos a fairly recent Hollywood adaptation,
or barring that - The Simpsons took it on.
