You don't always have to buy a present. With most women it's more the thought you put into it than what you buy. A call in the middle of the day just to say hi and your thinking about her. Put a single rose on her car seat or under the windshield wiper of her car while she's at work with a note saying from a secret admirer and tell her to meet you somewhere for dinner. A romantic picnic in the country with candles and wine. When she gets home from work, have a hot bath ready for her surrounded by candles. Good Luck!

This book has some great ideas... 1001 Ways to be Romantic.
The author has a few other books with great inexpensive or free ideas.
Here are a few:
Romance 101
Give your lover a dozen roses and do it with a creative twist.
Give eleven red roses and one white rose. Attach a note that reads:
"In every bunch there's one who stands out and you are that one."
Sending a birthday card isn't just a good idea, it's an obligatory romantic gesture.
But how about doing something different this year?
On your lover's birthday, send a "thank you" card to his/her mother.
Gallantry never really goes out of style.
So every once in a while kiss her hand with a flourish.
Note: The proper way to kiss a woman's hand is to lower your lips to her hand.
You don't raise her hand to your lips.
Gift wrap a wishbone in a jewelry box.
Send it to her with a note that says,
"I wish you were here."
Unplug the TV.
Put a note on the screen saying,
"Turn me on instead."
Go through revolving doors together.
Write him a little love note.
Insert it into the book he's reading.

I have always been a fan of surprise and the just because thoughtfulness that some men sometimes show us ladies. If you're on a budget, then meet her after work and take her for astroll in the park, bring a bottle of wine with you and while star gazing and sipping, just let her know you care. Or if she spends the night, put a little note in her pocket or on her purse to let her know you'll be thinking about her and to have nice day. The biggest thing you could do is to surprise her with any of her personal favs, if she likes Hagen Daz then have some in the freezer when she comes over, she loves Fiona Apple then get her the underground copy of Fiona live at some remote destination. It's the little things that mean the most remember that.

The most memorable for my girl is when I put 6 notes around the house that said different things { I'm thinking of you right now, I love you, I miss you, etc} and put them in places that would take a while to come across. She even found the last one after we had split up and had to call me and tell me how sweet it was... It truly is the simple things in life that mean the most.......

A little note in an unexpected place (like her car)
A small stuffed animal left where she can find it.
A card - the dollar store sells them for $0.50
Surprise her with a pizza and a couple videos.
Text her a pic of something really nice and write a cute text with it.
Cheesy but cute - build her a build a bear and record your voice saying you love her. It would cost around $25.
Candles. Scented candles. We love 'em. (Under $5)
Instead of panties (I get so sick of getting panties. Those aren't for ME they are for HIM)..give her some cute boxers you bought for yourself and a little note "...for later' :)
A massage. Massage oil is cheap. Give a massage w/out expecting booty one night.
Hope that helps

If it's your wife, help with the dishes or other house jobs.
A single flower, a book, magazine subscription, coupons for free back rubs (or foot rubs), with no strings attached. Dusting powder, scented candle.

Poems written by you would help to win her heart. Trust me women love it. Or a letter written to her expressing your feelings. Good luck.
