We have a good relationship and we're not sexual involved.

No. The difference between 17 and 23 is too great. Those are some really important years. Can't you find someone your own age?

It depends. Is the 17 year old more mentally mature than the 23 year old? That's like asking, should a 21 year old date a 27 year old. Once again it depends on many factors. Just because laws were made in this country that set 18 years of age as an "adult", doesn't mean that on someone's 18th birthday a magic fairy comes and endows that person with special knowledge that transforms them into a mature adult. Even the law recognizes this as in many cases juvenilles can be "tried as adults". Some 16 year olds are more mature than some 35 year olds.

Once again it just depends on many factors and each situation should be evaluated on a case by case basis.

Personally, I've always gotten along better with older men and at 17 I had set my limit at 28 and above. Every male friend I had was repsectful and we never engaged in intercourse. I am 20 years old now, soon to be 21 and I am engaged to be married to a 29 yr old man who is soon to be 30. If you two are mature enough to maintain a plutonic relationship, enjoy each other's company and both families are aware of the relationship, then good for you.

Good luck and God bless

Jai

You are almost 18, so at this point I would assume you are old enough to figure out what relationships are healthy and what ones aren't. If you have a good relationship then thats great! I would hold off on anything sexual till at least your 18, which shouldn't be hard if you are both really interested in eachother and aren't in a rush.

Easy - around the 20ties women are thought to be more mature (in average perhaps 2-3 years ahead). So just enjoy - I know of much bigger age differences, including sex.

In this country (Switzerland, same in Germany) sex is legal as long both are over 16 and - of course - it's based on free will and there is no inbreeding.

If you are going to wait until you are 18 it will not have legal issues. My wife is 9 years younger than me but we met when I was 40 and she 31 so no issues but if we had met when I was 30 she would have been 21 ... lots of questions in that so its a matter of relative age and experience. If you are sure this guy is right for you and he is willing to wait until you are ready ( not until you are 18 - until you are ready and over 18 ) it might work out.

You're doing wonderfully :) Congratulations.

If you wish to take it to the next level of friendship you have to wait untill she's 18, so that way you won't have any problems either with the law or relatives.

Take care and I hope you two will be happy together for the rest of your lives :)

It's OK - sex would be illegal though. Most people will assume you are having sex.
